About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Christine! First off, I'm taking this class as part of the credential program as well as to better my knowledge in technology. I am majoring in mathematics and my academic goal is to become a high school math teacher. I stay busy with school, part time job, horseback riding, and riding mountain bikes. In my spare time I love to cook and race mountain bikes. My previous k-12 education was in Murrieta. I spend my k-7 in public school and home schooled through a charter school during my 8-9 grades. My home school experience was great, as I was able to concentrate on learning using my own methods. However, missing my friends,  I returned to public school for my 10th grade. I was a good student, very well focused on my grades. I always studied hard, and my hard work payed off with my GPA. I was slightly disinterested thinking about my senior year of high school. The classes they offered were almost like "filler classes", just a way for students stay in school. So I decided to either take college classes while in 12th grade, or graduate early. In the end, I graduated after my junior year and attended to local junior college. School was relatively easy, but still took hard work and determination.
On the technology continuum, I am slightly behind. I do not have a smart phone, as my cellphone is uneducated; just texts and makes phone calls. I don't use too much technology, since I am usually outdoors most of the time and not really into spending the money on devices. But I do find some technology interesting and I am relatively computer savvy. But I haven't used a mac compute before. That will be interesting. But I do believe that technology is vital for teachers to learn. Especially since in the following generations, technology will only keep improving. Children are fascinated with technology. If schools can integrate technoloy in their education, perhaps they will be more interested in learning.
I found the mission statement interesting. I believe most in striving toward life-long learning and reflective teaching. Life is full of learning. No matter how old a person is, they are always learning. And reflective teaching is the most beneficial method of teaching. Just as the students learn from the teacher, I believe teachers can always learn from their students. It's mutual learning. As a teacher reflects on his/her teaching methods, they can learn methods of improvement as well.
I look forward to this class and learning of ways to better improve my future teaching methods.

  1. I totally agree with you on the life-long learning! We constantly learn new things and learning is in turn, really fun. I think it's great that you are such an outdoorsy person! I think more of us should be outdoor people instead of being on our phones or computers. Although, there are many apps that combine outdoor activities and technology that make it a little more interesting.

  3. Hello Christine. I'm right there with you on the technology spectrum. I own a dumb phone (it makes calls and texts!) and I'm perfectly content with that. Whenever I see someone on a smart phone they are just playing angry birds and I don't have much time for that Haha.

Im also not mac savvy either so hopefully we will both learn alot from this class.
